Carlos Estevez (1969, Havana/Cuba) has graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba in 1992 and received the Grand Prize in the First Salon of Contemporary Cuban Art in 1995. He describes his pieces are fragments, not finished products in formal harmony. Encyclopedic reference books inform his work as metaphors of confinement of human knowledge in objects. He regards them as primary resource materials, alongside human history, from which he has acquired symbols and images to represent his ideas, and life itself. Estevez lives and works in Miami, USA. His work has been exhibited around the world.
